Ride the Waves to a Cleaner Ocean
If you are a lover of surf, the beach, and the ocean, one of the most effective groups to be part of is the Surfrider Foundation, a grassroots, non-profit organization working to protect our oceans, waves, and beaches. Founded in 1984, Surfrider“promotes the right of low-impact, free and open access to the world's waves and beaches for all people.” There are 60 chapters nationwide all striving to protect the beaches and oceans for our enjoyment and the vital health and diversity of the coastal environment. On this extensive site, you can find your local chapter, check out the current beach water-quality, learn about the causes of coastal pollution, and download twenty ways to start the clean-up.
